IAEA chief visits Chornobyl and calls the Russian occupation of the site very dangerous
Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.
IAEA director general Rafael Grossi visited the Chornobyl site on the 36th anniversary of the 1986 disaster and said the Russian takeover had been absolutely abnormal and very, very dangerous. He said radiation levels had risen at times during the occupation, partly from heavy vehicle movement, and had returned to normal. He also said the physical integrity of the Zaporizhzhia plant, still held by Russian forces, had been compromised and external power had been interrupted at several sites.
