UKMTO said a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile near Limah, Oman, on the night of 6 July and caught fire; Qatar identified it as its LNG carrier Al Rekayyat, and UKMTO reported no casualties or environmental damage, Al Jazeera and the Guardian reported. The Saudi-flagged supertanker Wedyan, owned by Bahri, was also damaged, and Saudi Arabia said it holds Iran fully responsible; CENTCOM later said three commercial vessels had been attacked. Axios, citing two US officials, said the IRGC fired at least two missiles at ships; Iranian state TV said the LNG tanker was hit after ignoring warnings, but Iran did not claim the attack. All three ships were hit near the US-backed route close to the Omani coast that Iran opposes.
