Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.

Drewry's World Container Index composite stood at $2,287 per 40ft container in the assessment for 2 April 2026. Drewry put Shanghai to Rotterdam at $2,543, Shanghai to Genoa at $3,529 and Shanghai to Los Angeles at $2,663 per 40ft. Drewry said the composite was unchanged on the week and cited disruption in the Strait of Hormuz tightening bunker fuel supply and raising prices. It reported that Maersk sought US approval for an emergency bunker surcharge of $200 per TEU on head-haul dry cargo. Against Drewry's 5 October 2023 assessment of $1,389.5, the composite was up 65% (our calculation from Drewry's figures). Hellenic Shipping News carried the assessment on 3 April without stating its date; Drewry publishes on Thursdays, so it is placed on 2 April.
