11 July 2026 in brief

OCHA said more than 732,000 people had returned home in Lebanon, leaving about 430,000 still displaced, and Lebanon's National News Agency said Israeli raids on homes in al-Mansouri injured seven people. [1] The container ship GFS Galaxy was struck and disabled on the southern route along the Omani coast, UKMTO said, and Oman said 23 people were rescued and one crew member was missing; the IRGC said it fired on the ship for using an 'unauthorised route'. [1] CENTCOM said US forces struck about 140 Iranian military targets overnight, bringing the total over three rounds to more than 300, and Tehran said casualties were under review. [1] The IRGC declared the Strait of Hormuz closed 'until further notice', according to IRNA, a claim CENTCOM disputed, saying the strait was open and traffic was flowing. [1] Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi held talks in Muscat on managing the strait, which Iran's foreign ministry said failed because of US pressure on Oman, and state media released a statement attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei pledging revenge for his father's killing.
