11 October 2026 in brief

A projectile struck terminals at Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, killing a Pakistani resident and injuring 11, Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was also attacked; the Houthis claimed both airports and two Aramco sites, which Saudi Arabia did not confirm. [1] Lebanon's National News Agency said two men were killed during the olive harvest in Bint Jbeil district, one by Israeli shelling in Yater and one by ordnance left from earlier Israeli operations in Froun. [1] The World Health Organization counted 1,282 people killed and 5,891 injured in Yemen since 6 August. [1][2] UKMTO reported five tankers and a container ship struck on 11 October, five of them in the Strait of Hormuz and one off Sohar in Oman, where India's shipping minister said two Indian crew of the MT Petro Dolphin were missing. [1] Iran's foreign minister urged Saudi Arabia's foreign minister to seek a political solution with the Houthis, and Supreme National Security Council head Mohsen Rezaei said Washington's response to Iran's conditions for reopening the strait was "insufficient".
