The Freedom of Russia Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Siberian Battalion, Russian armed groups fighting on Ukraine's side, claimed raids across the border from 12 March, including on the village of Tyotkino in Kursk region, timed before Russia's presidential vote. Kursk Governor Roman Starovoit called the attackers Ukrainian sabotage units, and Rosgvardia said it was helping repel them. Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said a woman was killed by drone and shell fire in the region. Russian authorities later moved about 5,000 children out of Belgorod city as cross-border fire continued.
