Confirmedon two or more distinct origins, at least one tied to no party: 2 distinct origins, 2 tied to no party.

Russian gas deliveries across Ukraine to the rest of Europe stopped early on 1 January when the long-standing Russia-Ukraine transit contract expired, the Guardian reported. European benchmark gas prices rose on 2 January to their highest level since October 2023, and storage was falling at its fastest rate since 2021, according to the same report. Moldova's breakaway Transnistria region cut heating and hot water to households after Russian gas stopped flowing, the Guardian reported. The transit route had carried Russian gas through Ukraine throughout the full-scale war until this point.
