UKMTO said a tanker was hit by an unknown projectile about 63 nautical miles west of Yanbu early on 24 August, starting a fire on the main deck; all crew were safe and no environmental impact was reported, gCaptain reported. EOS Risk Group identified the ship as the Saudi-flagged, Bahri-owned VLCC Amzan sailing from Ain Sukhna to Yanbu and said an anti-ship ballistic missile was used. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the attack and Saudi Arabia confirmed one of its ships was hit, Reuters reported via The Times of Israel. It follows a month of Houthi attacks on Saudi-linked tankers in the Red Sea, where Saudi Arabia has shifted crude exports since Hormuz closed.
