The US Energy Information Administration's August Short-Term Energy Outlook raised its third-quarter Brent forecast to $85 a barrel, $11 above July's, and $78 for the fourth quarter, assuming disruption in the Strait of Hormuz persists through August before flows slowly increase in September, Oil & Gas Journal reported. EIA said shut-in production averaged 5.5 million barrels a day in July and that Hormuz flows averaged 4.9 million barrels a day in the second quarter against 21.6 million in late 2025. S&P Global reported the 2026 average Brent forecast at $87.
