Iraq's government said after a cabinet meeting that it approved mechanisms for exporting crude through specialised international and local companies via multiple outlets, under contracts running for three months from 1 September, Asharq Al-Awsat reported on 19 August. It did not name the companies, volumes or outlets. Iraq, OPEC's second-largest producer, ships most of its crude from southern Gulf terminals and has been developing routes through Turkey and Syria since the strait closed.
