Russian forces struck mainly around Kyiv overnight into 4 August with ballistic missiles and long-range drones, killing several people on a railway platform in Brovary district, UN News reported. The UN human rights office in Ukraine said at least 17 civilians were killed and 44 injured. On 5 August Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the strikes a clear violation of international humanitarian law and part of an alarming pattern of escalating attacks on populated areas. The same UN report noted local authorities in Russia said Ukrainian drone strikes killed at least 12 people across several Russian cities that week.
