Reportedon one origin only: 1 distinct origin, 1 tied to no party.

UKMTO Warning 115-26 said a vessel transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unidentified projectile that damaged its engine room, causing one crew casualty, with the Omani coast guard assisting the rest of the crew, gCaptain and Reuters reported. The shipowners' association INTERCARGO identified the ship as the Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Minoan Dignity and confirmed a seafarer died; it later said he was the chief engineer. gCaptain's first report dated the strike to 17 August and a later one to 18 August; Reuters reported it early on 18 August. gCaptain put the confirmed seafarer death toll at no fewer than 16; UKMTO also logged a late report of a bulk carrier hit on 15 August with one crew member injured. No party has been named as the attacker. UKMTO rates the strait's threat level as severe, with attacks rising after the US-Iran memorandum lapsed.
