UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the UN would register and verify ships carrying fertilizer and related products through the Strait of Hormuz, run from Oman, to support more orderly and predictable transit, AFP reported via The Times of Israel. He said the UN would not authorise passage or change states' legal rights, and that the mechanism works only if all countries involved in the conflict agree. Fertilizer shipments have been disrupted along with oil and gas since late February.
