3 June 2026 in brief

Drones hit the passenger terminal of Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and wounding 63, Kuwait's defence ministry said, and Kuwait briefly shut the airport and expelled two Iranian diplomats. [1] Israeli strikes killed at least 10 people in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera reported. [1] A Serbian UN peacekeeper was killed when mortars hit a UNIFIL position near Marjayoun; a UN source said the fire appeared to come from Hezbollah, which denied hitting the base, so responsibility is disputed. [1] The IRGC said it targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, and Bahrain's defence ministry said it destroyed three missiles and several drones. [1] After talks in Washington, the US, Lebanon and Israel said Israel and Lebanon agreed to implement a ceasefire conditional on a complete halt to Hezbollah fire, and to reconvene the week of 22 June.
