9 June 2026 in brief

The IRGC said US strikes destroyed two water reservoirs in Sirik County that supply drinking water to more than 20,000 people, Al Jazeera reported, while CENTCOM said it targeted communications and radar facilities. [1] Israeli strikes killed at least eight people and wounded 32 in Tyre after an order for the whole city to evacuate, Lebanon's health ministry said, and Lebanese authorities said at least 17 were killed across the south. [1] Lebanon's health ministry put the overall toll at 3,666 killed and 11,321 injured. [1][2] CENTCOM said it began strikes on Iranian radar and air defence sites around Hormuz as a response to Iranian aggression, and Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported explosions on Qeshm Island and in Sirik, Jask and Bandar Abbas. [1] A gunman from Lebanon opened fire on Israeli troops near Margaliot and was shot dead, the IDF said, with no soldiers hurt. [1]
